BVCW PUBLISHES POSITION PAPER ON PREVENTION & RISK MINIMIZATION
Berlin, 06/13/2022 – Cannabis is currently on everyone’s lips. To create the appropriate framework conditions for responsible consumption, the German Cannabis Business Association (BvCW) has published a new position paper. In addition to standards for education, counseling, prevention and packaging design, it also proposes social concepts for sales outlets. Such concepts are already common practice in the gambling industry, for example.
“Modern prevention approaches are needed for the planned legal cannabis market. Potentially problematic use occurs in less than 10% of users. We want to further minimize this percentage with our 16 proposals for prevention and consumer protection”, says Dirk Heitepriem, vice president and department coordinator for recreational cannabis regulation at the BvCW.
Jürgen Neumeyer, managing director of the BvCW, adds: “Cannabis has many uses. As a stimulant, it is a drug and every drug has risks. As the cannabis industry, we want to take responsibility and contribute to risk minimization. The proposals have also been sent to the federal government’s drug commissioner, Burkhard Blienert, to be considered in the ongoing consultation processes on cannabis legalization.”
The document with all 16 points can be found as ELEMENTS Volume 23 here.
